On Thursday 27th August 2026 at 11.30am, I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Nicola Everett on KMFM, talking about KERLORA, how the brand started, why movement is so important to me and the community we're building around it.
And for me, the story behind KERLORA is a very personal one.
It started with movement
KERLORA was born from my own relationship with exercise.
I've struggled with health anxiety, and over time I discovered that exercise became a form of therapy for me. Running, walking, lifting weights and simply moving my body gave me somewhere to put that anxious energy. It helped me clear my head, feel stronger and, most importantly, feel more like myself.
But while exercise was becoming such an important part of my life, I didn't always feel like I fitted into the world of activewear that surrounded it.
So much of the industry seemed focused on a particular image of what an active woman should look like.
And I didn't necessarily see myself in that.
I'm a mum. I have a real body. I have busy days, good days, difficult days and days when getting out for a walk is an achievement in itself.
I wanted clothes that made me feel good without making me feel like I needed to look a certain way first.
That was the beginning of KERLORA.
More than activewear
I didn't want to create another activewear brand telling women what their bodies should look like.
I wanted to create premium athleisure for real women, real bodies and real life.
That distinction is really important to me.
KERLORA isn't about being the fastest runner, lifting the heaviest weights or having the 'perfect' body.
It's about how movement makes you feel.
Sometimes that might be a 10K run. Sometimes it might be a gym session. Sometimes it might be a walk with friends. And sometimes, it might simply be getting yourself out of the house when you really don't feel like it.
There shouldn't be a level of fitness you have to reach before you feel that you belong.
Building a community
As KERLORA has grown, I've realised that the community side of the brand is just as important as the clothing.
Our community walks have become a huge part of that.
They aren't about pace or performance. They're about getting people together, moving, talking and making connections.
Seeing people who may have never met before come together, walk, laugh and support each other has been one of the most rewarding parts of building KERLORA.
Because ultimately, that's what I want the brand to represent.
That message came from my own experience, but it seems to resonate with so many other women too.
Sharing the KERLORA story with KMFM
Talking to KMFM gave me the opportunity to share the story behind the clothes – the reason KERLORA exists in the first place.
Starting a business is certainly not always easy, and there have been plenty of challenges along the way. But when you create something from a very personal experience and then see other women connect with it, it makes all of those challenges feel worthwhile.
KERLORA started because I needed exercise in my life to help me mentally as well as physically. I needed to be wearing clothes that supported that journey, not clothes that made me feel uncomfortable before I even left the house.
Now, I want other women to feel that way too.
Whether you're a runner, a gym-goer, someone who loves a long walk, or you're simply trying to move a little more, there's a place for you here.
And that is what we're continuing to build – not just a clothing brand, but a community around movement, confidence and feeling comfortable in the body you have today.
Find strength in movement, not perfection.
